31 week update

We had our ultrasound this week and the babies are doing great. Here are their estimated weights:
Baby A - 3 lb 14 oz
Baby B - 3 lb 12 oz
Baby C - 4 lb 0 oz
The margin of error at this stage is almost 11 oz, which means they should all be at least 3 lbs each. So we are doing great. The average triplets are born at 33 weeks and are 3 1/2 lbs, so we are well on our way to beating the averages.

We had a tour of the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) at the hospital this week. Since the babies will most likely be spending some time in there when they are first born, it was good to familiarize ourselves with the setup. While we were there, we saw a baby that was born at 25 weeks and who had been in the NICU for 6 weeks. It was really reassuring to know that our babies could do well even if they were born today.

In order to keep the babies inside me for as long as possible, the doctor recommended that I really start to take it easy. I've been feeling a lot more uncomfortable this week, which has me wanting to sit down and lay down more often. When I reminded the doctor that Clara was born less than 3 hours after I went into labor and that I live 30 minutes from the hospital, she told me not to go too far from home and to come to the hospital as soon as I think I am in labor.

Only 5 weeks to go until our scheduled c-section on Aug 7th. Hopefully we can make it!
