The dilemma...

Gigi's miraculous turnaround and continued stable condition has caused some diverging opinions from her doctors and presents us with a dilemma. Some (not all) of the doctors are now of the opinion that Gigi doesn't need to be in the hospital any longer. This seems like great news on the surface, but Gigi leaving the hospital now presents it's own set of challenges.
1. It would be difficult for her to maintain the same level of inactivity at home as she has been able to do in the hospital this last week. She has basically spent her entire time in a comfortable adjustable hospital bed, with nurses attending to her every need and three meals per day delivered to her bed.
2. We live 30 minutes (with no traffic) from the hospital. One of the doctors said that at 3-4cm dilated now, Gigi going into labor again at home would probably cause an emergency situation/c-section next time. And that's if we even make it to the hospital. We also need to consider Gigi's delivery history, i.e. Clara's super quick delivery just 19 minutes after we arrived at the hospital after a very short labor. As the nurse said at the time, "she came out like a torpedo". Three male torpedoes may be tougher to handle and I'd rather not deal with that on the side of the freeway :-)

They did an ultrasound yesterday afternoon and everything looked good. Three heartbeats, and placentas and fluids all looked good. They were not able to determine what caused the discharge that started the labor 9 days ago.

There was a party athmosphere in the room again tonight as Jason stopped by and we celebrated his 41st birthday with CPK Pizzas and a coffee ice-cream cake. We think we might have been the first people ever to eat coffee ice-cream cake out of coffee filters (Marge's ingenuity, making up for our lack of plates).

It was a good day for visitors. Jay came by in the early morning followed by Gigi's friend Kate at lunchtime.

Gigi completed 33 weeks today. Another milestone passed, and a good one at that...

I just got caught up as I was wondering whether the tripets have arrived yet. I guess Gigi is now back home by now. Now that you have a "trial run" everything should be smooth sailing when it's time, right? :->

I definitely vote for staying in the hospital where the doctors and nurses are only a push button away. Enjoy this quiet time while you can! Gig, it was great catching up with you the other day. You look fantastic in the picture. Great job keeping us updated on the blog, Bryan!
