Tighe was released from the hospital just after noon today (Monday). We are thrilled to have him back home with us. Things could not have gone any better over the weekend. And because things don't go this well unless there's some fantastic people involved, I need to take a few minutes to thank those people.
Firstly, thanks to Marge and Don for coming down and helping us out on the home front, looking after Clara, Cian and Michael. Thanks to Ann Marie for helping to feed our esteemed home help. Thanks to Debbie for chauffeuring our little Princess Clara to and from school. And thanks to all our neighbors who continue to help and offer help, we really appreciate it.
Then there's the team of people at Lucille Packard Childrens Hospital who care for Tighe and make our time there go as smoothly as possible. In particular this past weekend, Dr. Claire Twist and Dr. Fritz Tan (Tighe's oncologists). Dr. Karl Sylvester and Dr. Paige Fox (surgeons). When you actually think about what these guys did on Friday last, it's really quite amazing. Can you imagine waking up in the morning and going in to do this kind of job? Dr. Matt Jolley (anaesthesiologist). And last but not least, Nurse Ebony. Not just some great names, but a really fantastic set of people.
Tighe is chatting away beside me as I write this. I'm beginning to wonder whether he squeezed in a visit to the Blarney Stone in the last week on top of everything else he's been through.
Next on the list is the pathology report. We should get it in the next few days. Our fingers are crossed for good results.

I think Tighe definitely inherited "the luck of the Irish".
I googled the saying there to see where it originated and "it refers to the fact that the Irish people have come through such overwhelming adversity and have come out on top and kicking! It must be luck... or true perseverance"....either way Tighe has it! Words can't describe how relieved and happy we are back home. We know you are in good hands with your team of doctors, friends and family. Give my love to all the childers!!
Hi Bryan and Gigi,
Julia said it all in her comment. We are all so happy. Will ring you Wednesday. Always thinking of ye all.
Happy to hear about Tighe's progress. He's a tenacious little guy, isn't he? I'm sure his mom and dad are relieved to have him, cozy, back at home.
Love from Genna and her mom
